St. Louis Children's Hopsital Visit

Addy and I just back from her appointment at St. Louis Children's Down Syndrome Clinic. When we got there my Facebook friend, Brandi was there to meet us! How sweet is that?? She has an adorable little boy with DS named Jack, so cute! Wish we could have met him too, but she did come over from work :) Thanks for meeting us Brandi!

We met with the nurse practitioner today, Melissa. She was awesome! Very thorough and she listened to my concerns whole heartedly. Today was pretty much a general visit to see what specialties Addy needs to see on our next visit. The main reason I went to Children's was due to my continual concerns regarding Addy's GI issues. She agreed that Addy's belly is considerably distended and definitely needs to see GI. We've only see the GI that comes down from KC once and he wasn't all that concerned. There may be nothing but I'm glad we're going to get a second opinion. We're also going to see ENT/Audiology, Ophthalmology and Orthopedics. She felt that Addy is guarding her right side some when she walks and stands. I hadn't really noticed it but once she did I could see what she's talking about. We've just been so thrilled that Addy is standing and walking that we haven't really paid attention to how she is doing these things. So most likely we will be looking at some x-rays of her hips and knees to make sure that everything is okay. They also took blood for Addy's annual thyroid function test since it's been over a year since her last one. I've already received the email that her thyroid function is normal! Yeah! Now we wait for our call about the day that we will have our marathon day of appointments :)

How nice to be able to do it all in one visit. We have a DS clinic here, but Jax saw so many specialists already that we didn't really need to go!

It was so great to meet you guys too! I am glad the appointment went well and that you got some information! I love Melissa! She is wonderful. I am interetsted to see what the GI says about Addy's tummy. Let me know - Jack's is always distended as well. Take care!!
