Visit

Well I think we are ready for our visit from Addy's birth parents tomorrow. I'm nervous again but I guess that's to be expected! We're meeting at Chuck E. Cheese's so that ought to be a trip! Addy's first visit to a restaurant and we chose the Chuck Meister, are we nuts or what!?!? I'm sure she's going to be on sensory overload, but we'll see! I'll post pix tomorrow if I get a chance, wish us luck!

GOD is Good, ALL the Time!

In church our pastor often says "God is good" and we respond "All the time", then he says "All the time" and we answer "God is good". It is so true! Today I talked with the social worker here locally that will be handling our adoption subsidy. I told her that we don't have the TPR (termination of parental rights) paperwork from MN due to the fees etc. etc. Anyway she said that she thought they would release it to her since she is working for the subsidy! So she is on a mission! She also said that since Addy does have DS she will qualify, but more than likely it will be a double maintenance payment since she had such significant medical needs at the time of placement! WOO HOO God is Good ALL THE TIME! It hasn't happened yet but we are meeting next Tuesday and hopefully this will all go forward much sooner than we think!Thank you everyone for praying, He is so amazing.

It continues.

Frustration!

Today has really been a day. I had to unhook Addy's feeds at 3 o'clock this morning and switch her to Pedialyte until 6 a.m. for a sedation at 9 o'clock. She was scheduled to have her ABR test today. So I get her there and after waiting about 20 minutes we are finally called back by the nurse who will be monitoring Addy once she is sedated. She asks some general questions and then wants to know how long she has been on O2 and if she is on all of the time. I tell her that she's been on it her whole life and yes she's on all of the time right now. She gets us settled with the audiologist and says that she is going to check with the doctor to make sure we are good to go and she'll be back. Well twenty minutes later she comes back and says that she isn't an anesthesiologist or a nurse anesthetist and she just doesn't feel comfortable being the one to monitor Addy due to her significant lung and heart issues. Which she has no heart issues that we are aware of according to her cardiologist. She says that it would probably be better to do the test in the hospital. So I ask why wasn't it scheduled that way then? This office is the one that ordered the test! So we ended up not having the test done! So Addy's feeding and nap schedule was completely off today for nothing! Besides the fact that I had to get up at 3 and 6 to make sure her feeds were off! I just thank God that I didn't have school today due to ice and I wasn't losing pay for nothing! UGH! So now we wait to see what they want to do next. So now I'm waiting on the cardiologist to let me know whether we can do the tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy in Springfield or St. Louis and whether or not we can do the ABR test! This is so frustrating! It's not like the ENT hadn't ever seen Addy before or was unaware of her medical issues! So to top the day off we get home (30 minute drive) and I go to change her and she has this funky looking rash on her legs and her left one is a little swollen and feverish. So I call the pediatrician's office and wait for a call back. In the mean time her PT came to work with her and is like "What is wrong with her legs?" Addy was cranky because she'd missed her nap and now her legs were probably itching or hurting or something. It was horrible. The pediatrician called me back and just had me give her Tylenol and her prescribed medication for hives for the time being because he didn't want to have me travel back to Springfield and expose her to a million things in his office. So here we are! Happy Valentines to us! Addy's going to be up late since she had a really late nap and now I'm worried about her legs! Poor thing! So if anyone has any idea what this rash looks like let me know please!!!!!!! We did have fun in the bath tonight so I did post fun pix too. I fell so much better now that I have vented! Another ICE STORM!

Okay, I love where I live but this weather is driving me nuts! One day last week it was 70 degrees and now we are in the midst of an ice storm! Yesterday my girlfriends tooks me out for my birthday. I haven't been out with the girls since before we brought Addy home! They took me to see Matthew in "Fool's Gold" he's pretty much shirtless during the whole movie so it was great! No school today obviously and we're out again tomorrow. While I was taking pix of the ice I noticed part of our trampoline from the January tornadoes coming through. You gotta love the Ozarks! I don't mind missing school, I get to be mommy instead of Ms. Cammie for the day! Jarika pretty much slept, surprise surprise! Cooper and Avery worked on an Avatar Lego ship. Didn't get much done, but did try. Addy and I played and played. I didn't have a voice this morning so I stayed away from her as much as I could. I'm better now, I just hope it's not gone again in the morning! I was supposed to go to the attorney today to start working on the finalization but that didn't happen due to not having a voice and the ice. Springfield pretty much shut down today too. I just hope that we don't lose power. That's a fear of mine with Addy's oxygen concentrator and feeding pump. Please Lord, be with us!

Good report!

Well we went to the surgeon yesterday for another follow-up appointment. He was very pleased with how Addy is healing! We are now back to feeding 20 hours a day instead of 24. We will slowly go to bolus feedings in the next few months. He also increased the size of the dilator for her little bottom. I hate that for her! But, I know it has to be done! She is having her Mic-KEY button replaced on Friday to strictly a G-button instead of a JG so it won't be as big and bulky! Yeah Addy! We will also get to visit all of our nurse friends in the PICU then, thankfully it's just in passing! Today was my birthday and my friends treated me to Cashew Chicken for lunch, yum! It's also our 6-month for having Addy join our home! That means we can now officially adopt her! I meet with our attorney on Monday so hopefully things will go well!
Once of my very best friends is taking me to see Fools Gold this weekend, we are both totally in love with Mr. Matthew so we both are really excited! I'm so excited that Miss Ava Urbon is home from Ukraine! Woo hoo Urban family!

Snow Day!

Well we got out of school at 11:00 yesterday morning due to the impending snow storm. Today we only had about 4-5 inches but enough to get the sleds out and the snowball fights going! It was about 37 degrees today so we melted quite a bit but the kids still had fun. I wanted to take Addy out, but it just wasn't in the works today. I got cute pix of her playing pat-a-cake but of course they're not as good as the real thing! I did get my scrapbook room pretty straight today so hopefully I can get back to my addiction for a little bit! My good computer friend, Charissa and her husband John, became the parents of a beautiful little girl named Ava Alina Grace who will be four tomorrow! What an awesome birthday present for this precious little angel with DS! Congrats Urbans!
