2 month update

I decided to wear the same clothes this time to see if I see any difference. I don't have the same view, but close enough. Surgery was two months ago and I am down 38 lbs. I wish I would have taken measurements, I bet I'd see a big difference there. I notice the loss in my legs and arms and a little on my stomach. At least I can see it somewhere!

Woo Hoo!!! It's Potty Time!

Addy's nurse texted me this morning to let me know that Addy led her into her room for a diaper change since she had just wet her diaper. Addy was definitely communicating to her what she wanted done! We both thought it's probably a good idea to start potty training since Addy seems to know when she goes, wants to be changed after she's gone and understands what we are talking about when we say "potty". So wouldn't you know she pooped on the potty first time she put her on it!!! I was so bummed I missed this awesome event, but she did send me a picture text (no I won't share that one for you!) She pooped twice for her today and even peed!! She has peed for me twice and pooped once!! I guess it's time woo hoo!!!

College!!!/First Day of School

Scott and I got Jarika all settled into her dorm today!!! She is so excited to be there and is having a blast already!! She's so lucky, her dorm room is about twice the size mine was!! Have fun girl we are so proud of you!!!

Cooper and Jake had their first day of school today too. How in the world did they become a Jr. High student and an upper elementary student??? My babies are getting too big!

When I had Addy at the doctor a couple of weeks ago I asked about having her neck x-rayed since she had never had it done before. I figured it was just a routine check for AAI since most kiddos with DS are checked for it anyway. When we went to the hospital to have them done it took forever!! When we started the films they would take a few and go and talk to the radiologist and they would come back and take some different ones. This happened three different times so I was a little nervous that perhaps something was wrong. Naturally they don't tell you anything at the time! Addy's pediatrician called me yesterday while I was in one of my many before school meetings and asked me to call him today after 10. I was in a meeting to well after 11 but got a hold of him right away. He told me that the x-rays showed some subluxation (excessive slippage). So he said he and the radiologist both agreed that Addy needs to be seen by a neurosurgeon, so now we wait for that referral. I am hoping and praying that she is asymptomatic and won't need any surgery, I hate to put her through that, she's been through so much!

If you've read my blog for awhile you know about Jarika's BFF, Gage. We adore Gage so much. He is such an awesome kid! He is also going to Missouri Southern in Joplin with Jarika so I am REALLY glad about that! Anyone know who is with him in the pic?

Gotcha Day Pix

We had a pretty laid back Gotcha Day on Friday. Addy really liked the looks of her cake since it had her very favorite Elmo on it but could have cared less about eating it! It was much more fun to chuck it onto the floor. I keep thinking "maybe next year she'll eat her cake". I wonder how many more years I'm going to have to say that!

Mystery Rash

I took Addy to the ped this morning. She hasn't been sleeping very well at all so I figured she has an ear infection. She also has this lovely rash on her neck. The lighting is not good in these pix, the rash is dark red. I figured that was heat, it's been awful around here! Well I was right on count one, she indeed has an ear infection. As the rash goes, who knows. The doc doesn't think it's heat because of where it's located (just on the back of her neck) and the way it looks. So she's on two OTC meds for it and amoxicillan for the ear. Hoping it works, I didn't want to put her on anything stronger since it messes her belly up so much!

3 Years Ago Today

Three years ago today I met my daughter for the first time!

Weekend at the lake

We have an awesome house down on Tablerock Lake that we've had since I was about 10. We haven't been able to get down there near enough this summer but we definitely had fun this weekend. Our biggest accomplishment was this:

Cooper NEVER gets into the water! He freaks out something fierce and carries on like he's being tortured if we even talk of him going into the water. The last time we went to the lake he chose to stay home with Jarika since he hates it so much! But no more! He finally got onto the waverunner with Scott and Jake for a little ride. It went fine so he went ahead and went to a little island with them. Scott said they were wading in the water and Cooper went deeper than he should have and realized that his life jacket holds him up (like he's never heard that before!)! He LOVED it and couldn't get in enough swimming this afternoon! Way to go Coop! We're so proud of you!!!
