Of all places...
I went to the hospital this morning about 7:45am to wait on my mom's surgery. She had carpal tunnel surgery and a ulnar repair in her elbow. Anyway, as I get to the waiting desk you have to give them the patients name and your relation to them. I said I was there for Cammie Davis and I was her daughter. My mom goes by Nancy but it's always weird to say that because I'm Cammie Davis. Anyway, as I am waiting for them to look up to see where my mom is a woman comes and stands very close to me and is smiling from ear to ear. It's one of those moments where you are looking at this person and you are thinking "I know this person but I can't place.." Well it came to me, big Mac Truck smack you in the face came to me. It was my ex sister-in -law that I haven't seen in about 14 years! My ex-husband's entire family is in the waiting room!!! It was quite awkward I must say! My ex's aunt warned me that my ex was in the hospital too and would be coming back in and they were surprised I didn't see him as I arrived. I didn't see him and really didn't care too. But obviously they asked about Jarika, he is her biological father. Scott adopted her when she was six, we've been together since she was three. Anyway, I did go ahead and show the entire family Jarika's picture. I wasn't sure if I should but I did, they did once have a close relationship with my daughter. They were all there for my ex mother-in-law. I don't know what surgery she was having but that is why they were there. As they were ooing and awwing over how gorgeous Jarika is, here he comes. He looked at me and was shocked to say the least. He tried to see what everyone was ooing at. I just said, "You can look." He did and was speechless. He then looked up and said "She is beautiful." Yes she is. It really was an okay moment but still awkward. I'm really glad Jarika wasn't there, I'm not sure how she would have handled it. They were all very nice and were glad to see me and hear about my family. When I told them about Addy, his aunt (who is truly the strongest Christian in that family) said "That is definitely something I could see you doing. Bless you and your family, what a lucky girl." So this round of waiting room time was better than the last since it didn't last 9 hours (mom's back surgery in January), but strange and uncomfortable at the same time. My mom did great and the doctor repaired her messed up arm and said that very soon he needs to do the cervical spine surgeries. She'll have two sometime this summer/early fall. So I am camping out with my mom tonight, poor thing is totally helpless! I'm hoping I can go home tomorrow and we are going to try to get to our lake house this weekend too. We'll just have to see how my mom does!

Glad your mom did so well, running into the ex sis in law totally uncomfortable. Had one of those moments myself in an airport one time (she was getting on my plane AHHH!)
Hope you are able to get to the lake and enjoy the beautiful weekend.
Whoa, can you say akward!! I'm glad they were happy to see pictures and everyone was nice!
