Tearjerker

I haven't really blogged much about this issue but this is actually a perfect opportunity to. My youngest son is driving me crazy. He has been in trouble at home and at school and is about to put me in the loony bin. This child of mine is a brilliant little boy who is all boy and can argue with anyone and anything. He definitely needs to become a lawyer. He can find a loophole in any rule and can argue with anyone about anything. Even though he is only 9 he always manages to get in the last word. We have tried just about every form of discipline we can think of. We are now doing manual labor. He's been doing chores for almost two weeks now. He's having to do many things and Cooper doesn't have to anything (thought that would put salt in the wound) but he's still being very mouthy and disrespectful. It's so tiring. I do think we are making some progress, he hasn't been in trouble at school in 5 days (from what he says), so maybe there is hope!
Today as I was cleaning out his folder I was just about to pitch this; when I saw Addy's name, I read and I cried. I am so blessed to have this little boy and so is his little sister.
In case you can't read it, it says:
Addysen Heflin
Awesome
Drums on her baby drum
Down Syndrome Princess
Yanks My Hair
Strong
Eats with a feeding tube
Not dumb

Hilarious
Entertaining
Fast crawler
Loves me
I love her
Not my sister, my awesome sister

Wow...amazing little boy you have. It melts your heart to see the bond between siblings doesn't it? Unconditional love at its best.

Oh and Addysen is beautiful!

Typical boy....drives you crazy until you want to strangle them, and then they go and do something like this to redeem themselves! :)

But, seriously that is PRECIOUS!!! What a sweet boy! I think it's probably hard to be a boy. They have lots of energy and testosterone flowing through their veins and they have to find a way to control all of it! My boys are out of control somedays and have anger issues and talk back to me, but then they have so much love and compassion in them too. It's hard to find a balance as a Momma and probably as the child too. Some days I wonder how many of my boys will end up in jail one day....but then they say or do something so sweet and I realize that deep down they are GREAT boys!

I have a feeling that your Jake will outgrow these behaviors and turn into an awesome young man! Hopefully mine will too! :) Thanks for sharing this sweet thing with all of us! Hugs!!!

Oh my gosh, that is the sweetest thing ever! Oh the goosebumps!
We are having problems with Mondo. He is doing great in Junior high, loving it, but he is so mouthy to me, I can barely stand it! I often wonder if we let him get away with too much because of what he goes though with Jax. I'm not sure, but when daddy gets home, we'll have to figure out a good punishment!

A wonderfully balanced and true poem.

I hope he does the manual work with good grace - because he does it for Addy and for you.

He had me crying at Down Syndrome princess :) I would frame it and put it where I would see it everyday - it's proof that you ARE a good mom!
