So far so good!

We started Addy on the Elecare today. She has had three feedings with 2 ounces of Elecare and 6 ounces of the Prosobee. I think we may have a winner! This is a sample and it's vanilla flavored and no problems as of yet. I'm not sure if she will get the flavored through home health or not, I guess we'll wait and see! We will go 50% strength tomorrow and if that goes well we will try total Elecare on Monday!

Back to normal!

Addy is back to normal again today! Got all of the milk out of her system and she slept 12 hours last night and was very happy today. She even got to go to the football game tonight. She kept signing TOUCHDOWN! It was soo cute! We won 38-0!!! We will try the Elecare tomorrow so please pray she tolerates it well! Jarika could use prayers too, she takes the ACT in the morning! I will keep everyone posted about Addy boo! I really hope it goes well, the dietitian told Scott that after this one we really only have one other option then it's really a toss up what to do!

Sick Again

We tried Addy's new formula today. It FINALLY came in. We just put 2 ounces in with 6 ounces of the Prosobee. First feeding ended at 7:45am and by 8:30 it was all back up. She vomited for three hours and has had diarrhea since then. So back to the drawing board again. "sigh". She is keeping Pedialyte down now. The nutritionist sent home a sample of Elecare today to try after she gets the okay from the doctor. It has no milk or soy so I am very prayerful it will work. She really shouldn't have reacted to the Vital Jr. because the milk proteins were already broken down but nope, Ms. Addy has to follow her own rules! I did find this information very interesting: After bowel surgery, however, patients, especially infants, often have difficulty absorbing all the nutrients they need. This is further complicated by SBS’s (short bowel syndrome) main symptom, chronic diarrhea, which can result in malnutrition and dehydration, often leading to weakness, fatigue, weight loss, and failure to thrive. I got this off of the www.elecare.com website. You would think some doctor somewhere would have shared this information or thought about it when she started having such trouble gaining weight!

Labor Day Weekend

We just got back from a wonderful time at the lake. It's probably our last time of the season to go, so I'm so glad we were able to and have fun! Jarika and Jake went tubing like crazy and had such a good time. The loved going over huge waves and only wiped out a few times! Addy LOVED the boat as usual and kept waving at her brother and sister as they were tubing. Cooper didn't enjoy any of it but that's nothing new, poor guy :(. Avery even went off the rope swing for the first time, he loved it, big surprise there! We grilled out and just relaxed, it was such a nice time! I hope everyone had a wonderful end of summer weekend! (BTW, the pix of Addy on the boat with no life jacket are when we were stopped :) )

Last week the kids had a photo shoot to possible be in the new Down Syndrome Group of the Ozarks New Parents brochure. I'm pretty sure my little one should be front and center but I'm partial!

All Better

Addy is about 99% herself again! She managed to keep down quite a bit of pedialyte last night and has tolerated 1/2 strength feeds today!!! Yeah! All of that nasty milk is now out of her system and she's once again my happy girl, praise the Lord! She is requesting Twinkle Twinkle Little Star over and over, yep, she's back!

This is my baby after she has been vomiting profusely after having Lactinex (contains 380 mg lactose, 24 mg glucose, 34 mg sucrose, 5.0 mg calcium, 5.0 mg sodium, and 20 mg potassium). Contains milk, whey powder, and soy peptone. Do you think we need more proof that we have a true milk allergy?
She vomited a total of seven times and has had consistent runny stool all afternoon. She is now taking some Pedialyte and doing ok. She hasn't had a wet diaper since 9:45am. Please pray that she holds this down and doesn't end up dehydrated. Needless to say I'm not giving her the Lactinex ever again! So frustrating, we wanted to try it (per nutritionists and doctors order) to help with her digestive system and we've just irritated the you know what out of it! My sweet girl, praying she gets better soon.
