HELP!!!!
Addy has been on Augmentin since Sunday for her sinus infection and she has had the adverse side effect of diarrhea. She now has a major diaper rash and is bleeding in several areas and is miserable. Anyone know of a sure fire way to help her heal??? We have used vaseline, Butt Paste and Desitin. Also does anyone know if it is okay to give her some Immodium to help or will that be a no no?? She has had to have Immodium before so I know it's okay for her to have but not sure if it will help since it is a side effect to a med. I may also add some Rice Cereal to her milk that usually stops them up to right???

I think the formula is B.R.A.T. Bananas Rice cereal Applesauce Toast. I hope she gets better soon. How miserable, poor baby.
It could be Yeast. Keeghan ALWAYS gets a HORRIBLE yeast infection when on Augmentin, he gets the diarrhea too. His ped told me to put Nystatin on it and then a layer of diaper rash cream over that to kind of seal it. We found that Desitin works best for us... Also, at Target you can get Burt's Bees Butt Paste and that works great too.
As far as the Immodium, I'm not sure if it would work or not. You could always call the ped and ask if it's ok to try! Good luck, poor baby!!! The rash is so miserable!
I agree with Renee most likely is yeast. You can also try yougurt as far a food. That will help sometimes when it is from meds.
One thing that worked great for Jax c-diff rash was barrier cream by Baza. The bad part is I don't know if you can buy it in the store. But I bet a pharmacy would know. You don't wipe it completely off when you change her. Wipe over it and add more to places that need it. It keeps a barrier. It helps dramatically. Good luck
Oh that stinks! Grace is allergic to Augmentin too. She broke out in a rash when she took it but no diarrhea thankfully. Good luck. You need a break girl!
After the Nystatin I'd put on Bag Balm to keep the poop from burning her more, you can get it in the pet section (it was initially used for cows udders....I know, but it is completely safe and is often use on children). I use it on mine and on sore noses from colds etc.
BRAT for sure.
