Please Pray

Please pray for Addy, she began vomiting about 4 p.m. today. Those who know her know that she doesn't usually fare very well with tummy issues. So please pray that she is strong enough to fight this bug and stay hydrated so she can stay home!

Mother's Day and more

Okay, so I was driving home from my mom's yesterday and I peeked in my mirror to check on the kids and saw that Avery and Addy were both sound asleep holding hands. It was so cute, I tried to get a picture of their faces but since I was driving I didn't think it would be too good to turn and take a picture so this was the best shot I got by just holding the camera behind me! Sweet huh?

I hope everyone had a good Mother's Day yesterday. I know I did! My husband got me the most perfect card ever, was cleaning windows when the kids and I got back from church, did the laundry, vacuumed, dusted (even those really high parts that I NEVER get to), cleaned the bathrooms and was very sweet all day! Woo hoo! Him helping around the house was the perfect gift for me! I really want an orphan for any gift giving holiday but unfortunately that just isn't in our financial future, so I will take a clean house that I didn't clean any day!

It's a tradition at our church for our youth to come to church Sunday morning in their prom attire from the night before. Jarika had to work shortly after the service so I didn't get pics of the whole group but here is a little snapshot of the two of them. Jarika's bobby pins were killing her head so she took her hair down and washed it so we lost some effect but she still looked gorgeous!

Look what happens when you adopt a stray cat that has to stay outside because your son is allergic and the vet says "Oh she has an incision scar here, she's already spayed" Um yeah, uh NO! We've had this cat since last summer and this is what we found this morning! I was suspicious, she got pretty round the past couple of weeks! Fortunately she got into our storage room from the garage and found an old sleeping bag to make her "nest". She's being such a good mama, I hope she realizes that this will be her first and last time of this!

Prom Night!

Wild Day!

This day was nuts! Once I got kids to school and me to work Mother Nature went crazy! Our schools went on lock down/storm warning about 8:30am. We took our kids to the basement immediately. My office is in a trailer so needless to say I evacuated in a flash! We had tornadoes and horrible wind like crazy! Scott said he pretty much was at the tail end of the tornado on his way to work. Scott loves storms and for him to say that this was the worst one he's ever seen, you know it was bad! The sky looked like a dark greenish/purple color, dark as night! It was raining so hard you couldn't see anything! Well as I said I was in the basement with one first grade class and a few preschoolers that were there for their kindergarten screening. What a first experience at school! There were several of us teachers down there so it wasn't too bad. We don't have preschool class on Fridays so fortunately we were missing about 50 kids! Our teachers are so awesome, they brought down a Junie B Jones book and did a read aloud. The kids LOVED it and it kept them calm. We only had to have them duck and cover for about 20 minutes, the rest of the time we had them against the wall. They were all really good. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, I love Junie B and it was a nice comic relief! We spent quite a bit of time downstairs until the storm passed. It did quite a bit of damage, tons of trees were uprooted and a school not too far from here lost its roof on some parts. Our district was lucky, we just had a short power outage at the high school and it was only part of the building. So on with our day we went. By noon you could only see blue sky and puffy white clouds, it was crazy! And extremely HUMID yuck! About 3 o'clock I got a call from the High School Nurse. She said that Jarika had been out in the outdoor classroom for Ecology and passed out! They decided it was because the little stink didn't eat lunch, took her antibiotic and pain meds (the nurse distributed them just as she was supposed to) and was out in the heat and humidity and it was too much! Poor girl! So she learned her lesson, no more skipping lunch, especially on medication. Fortunately she is doing fine now and is at work. I went ahead and drove her to Springfield because she wasn't sure she wanted to drive, just in case! When she passed out she was teaching some fourth graders about genetics and such, using her rabbits as models, so Cooper was there when it happened. He didn't see it but he was worried about her! He came home with his face painted with a Blue Jay. Not sure how that fit into the lesson, but I'm sure it did! So Jarika is at work, Avery is at the 2nd Grade Round-Up at school until 11pm, Cooper went to spend the night with a friend and Addy is mesmerized with Blues Clues, I think it's time for a nice long rest!

Bad Mommy

Have you ever felt like you were just a failure as a parent??? I did today! Last week Jarika was complaining that her tooth hurt. Okay, you'll be fine let's see if we can wait until school is out to make an appointment. She stayed at my mom's last weekend and texted me "Mom, please can you make a dentist appointment, I really think I have a cavity." Okay, so I make an appointment with a new dentist because we really didn't like the one we were going to in town. They got her in this morning. Since she's 17 she had to have an adult with her. I am in the midst of preschool and kindergarten screening and we are short staffed as it is so I knew I couldn't go with her. Since it was a morning appointment I figured mom could go with her. Sure enough Grandmama said sure, it won't be a big thing, I just have to be there right? Yeah, I'm sure they are going to tell her she has a cavity and then we'll have to get it filled. WELL.... about 9:30 Jarika calls me "Mom, I have to get a root canal, I have to do it today or will have to wait until after prom (which is Saturday). I have a really bad cavity that has now abscessed and the nerve is damaged. " WHAT? I think, I haven't ever had a cavity so the thought of a root canal freaked me out a little. Fortunately our new dentist, that Jarika loved!!, was able to get her an appointment with an Endodontist this afternoon. So my mom cancelled her bridge (which is her addiction!) and entertained her precious granddaughter, took her to lunch, to the store to get her antibiotics and pain meds and then on to the dentist to have a root canal. A few hundred dollars later and she is good as new. So she thinks, meds and numbness hasn't worn off yet! So I felt about an inch tall when I hear that she now has an infection since I didn't get her in sooner! UGH! I feel so bad! But my precious girl took it in stride and told me not to worry, she thought it was a little cavity too! Does this look like someone that had a root canal just a few hours ago??? What a trooper!

So tired

I am so done, these past few weeks have just about done me in! I am working like crazy and my kids have activities like crazy right now too, I so need summer break! Scott is in Kansas City and Jarika had to work this weekend so she stayed in Springfield with my mom so here I am.



This morning I got up with Addy-boo and we were being kinda lazy. At 9:30 Cooper reminded me that he had to be at his St. Jude Bike-A-Thon at 10! UGH! So I jump in the shower, sorta put on my face, pull the stroller out of the back of the van, insert Avery's bike (since Cooper's has a flat tire), wipe the mud off of me from Avery's bike, load Addy, Avery and Cooper in the van and fly over to the school so Cooper can participate. We were only about 5 minutes late! Got Cooper all signed in and ready to go, with a new helmet from the Safety Council of the Ozarks, and off he went. Avery, Addy and I headed to the store so I could buy some brownie mix for my Bunco tournament this afternoon. Got there, got the brownies and was in the check-out line and remembered that Addy needs formula. UGH! Fortunately Addy gets her formula through WIC, which is a HUGE blessing, however, my vouchers were at home, UGH again! So we come back home, mix up the brownies and pop them in the oven. I then spend time putting together my raffle basket that I'm in charge of, pack Addy's diaper bag for the tournament, put more of my face on, change my shirt from the mud from earlier (yeah, dumb just wait), change Addy, take brownies out of the oven, pack up A and A then go to watch Cooper finishing up his Bike-A-Thon at noon. He rode 30 laps! I was really proud of him! We picked up his prize, some lame little doll thing, loaded up Avery's muddy bike back into the van, yeah shouldn't have changed shirts, loaded Addy in her carseat, pulled Avery off of the playground to fly back home. Once home, unloaded Avery's bike before changing my shirt again, hooked Addy up to her feeding pump, loaded the stroller in the van, cut the brownies, loaded my raffle basket, changed my shirt AGAIN, waited for Addy's feed to finish, changed Addy, loaded her in the van and headed off to my Bunco Tournament for Relay for Life at 12:45pm! Unloaded van, including stroller for Addy and all my other stuff. Played Bunco from 1-3 with a very tired little girl with me, didn't win a darn basket!, helped clean up, loaded stroller with tired little girl and headed home. Woke her up getting her out of the carseat, it's a full five minute drive to home. Changed her again, hooked her up to her feeding pump and saw the empty formula can on the counter!! So, I ran to the store with Avery out riding his bike and Cooper watching a sleeping sister in her seat while she's getting a feeding. Got to the store, got formula, checked out, and returned home in all of 8 minutes! So now I am hoping that I am done for the night so I can rest!
This is my friend, Loriell, she is one of the greatest people I know! We always do this May tournament with a Cinco De Mayo theme so once she got a Bunco, on went the sombrero!

Pioneer Day and Hail

Cooper had Pioneer Day at school today. Fourth graders learn all about Missouri during fourth grade and then have a big to do at school. Doesn't he look cute in his overalls doing the Doh Si Doh???

I went to the lake house tonight to clean the inside. I was back in the master bathroom scrubbing bug gunk and a years worth of dust when I heard this awful racket. I figured Avery had thrown or spilled something (imagine that) but I come out and find this happening outside!
