Day 23 of 31

Why is it when mothers are away everything goes to you know where and a hand basket? I left yesterday afternoon for KC. After school Avery forgot to go to church and accidentally came on home. This morning Addy woke up at 4:30 and Jarika locked my keys in my car. After school Cooper came home and skipped Junior Jays practice because kids were being mean to him. Jarika was dropped out of a cheer stunt and had to go and have her elbow x-rayed. Fortunately it's just bruised and not fractured like the nurses and athletic trainer thought so that's good. I get home and Addy has a tiny red spot in one of her eyes and I found out that yesterday Avery broke a motion detector light at a neighbor's house because he thought it would be fun to roll the basketball off of the roof to see if he could make a basket. Well all in all I went to a very good conference and made it home safely. I am very tired and ready for bed. I thank God that these are things I am dealing with today because it was one year ago today that I was dealing with this:

I am headed to Kansas City for a workshop so very short and sweet this morning! This is what I get to wake up to every morning, aren't I lucky!?!?!?

Day 21 of 31

Since it's the 21st I thought I would use today to blog about the 21 things about Addy. So here goes:

1. Addy spent the first four and a half months in the hospital.
2. Addy was born with an imperforate anus and chronic lung disease.
3. Addy found her "Forever Family" on August 6, 2007.
4. Addy wakes up in the morning, peeks over her crib and immediately starts laughing and smiling!
5. Addy LOVES Avery. She adores Jarika and Cooper, but Avery is definitely a favorite right now.
6. Addy LOVES to watch the Food Network with Daddy, especially Down Home with the Neeley's.
7. Addy throws everything, EVERYTHING!
8. Addy will put food in her mouth now but still isn't swallowing.
9. Addy loves the wind, she claps and claps when we go outside and she can't stop laughing when it's windy.
10. Addy sleeps in many positions but almost always one leg is bent.
11. Addy can sign "more, bath, dog, mommy, and all done" when she really feels it's necessary.
12. Addy does not think communication is necessary very much.
13. Addy loves to look at us over her non-existent glasses.
14. Addy makes noises constantly, especially growling!
15. Addy has the cutest, tiniest little ears and nose!
16. Addy does not like to bear weight on her legs at all and acts like PT is pure torture.
17. Addy loves to turn around on her little booty, it's too cute!
18. Addy has a palmar crease on her left hand and both pinkies are crooked!
19. Addy's eyes always change color, some day they are green and some days they are brown.
20. Addy loves her bath and playing in water and thinks it's hilarious when I am soaked after bath time!
21. Addy is a gift from God and no family could love her more!

Not a whole lot going on around here today. I had PT on my shoulder which I think just might be working. The electrical stim is for sure, it feels so good! I have posted the first pic that I ever saw of Addy and then the first pic of me actually getting to hold her! It's amazing how much she has changed from her first birthday to her second! She is such a blessing to my family. I'm so glad that God's path led us down the road to Down syndrome, we have such a little gift!

My baby girl turned 2 today! We were sooo busy she is pooped out! We got up early and went to Avery's last soccer game of the season then headed to Nixa to meet the rest of the family for the Davis/Heflin fall birthday extravaganza. We celebrated Kory our newest teenager!, Addy, Uncle Kent, Daddy, and our cousin Laura who is turning 8! We went to a Mongolian Bar-B-Que Buffet and it was really good! Then we went to Grandmama's house and did a few jobs for her and then went to Toys-R-Us to spend our birthday money from her! Addy got an Ariel ride on toy (to help with trunk support) a pair of jeans, an outfit and a onesie that says "I am the Princess", and an adorable pair of brown and pink boots! Addy loved pulling the tissue paper out of her gift bags and she LOVED the Penguin that her aunt Jill and uncle Kent and her cousins got her! Mamaw (Scott's mom) got her an adorable Glo-Worm and we got her a really neat shape sorter with big pieces so she can grab them easier. She also got some textured little balls that are pretty cool because she can throw them far! A monkey tree ball spiral thing that she could have cared less about and Grandmama (my mom) got her her very first Madame Alexander baby doll. She is adorable! She wasn't very thrilled with her cake but I think it's because between the Pumpkin Patch yesterday and all of the running today, she is just exhausted. I'm so thankful that God chose us to parent this wonderfully, amazing, precious bundle of life that we love so much. Happy Birthday Addysen Grace, we love you soooo much!
