This is a picture of Avery the day he was born. Isn't he beautiful!?!?! This was April 20, 2001.

Day 13 of 31

I went to my physical therapy evaluation today. Most likely I have torn my Rotator Cuff. Ugh. We are still going to do six therapy sessions to see if it improves. But most likely I will have to go for an MRI to either rule out the tear or to see what sort of treatment I will need. If it's torn most likely I'll have to have surgery. Not that I want that, but I am really tired of my shoulder making me miserable! I guess I'll know in a few weeks what's going to happen.

I just took some pix of Addy with Jarika. She stole Jarika's spoon from her which was a great toy and then was pretty pouty when Jarika wouldn't let her have her cell phone at all times! It was too cute.

It looks like she's trying to feed the dog, Bella!

Day 12 of 31

Addy is so funny, she usually goes to sleep very easily. However, there are those times when she is convinced that she's going to miss something. So we pull out Ole Faithful. Whenever she won't go to sleep on her own or if we rock her we put her in her Jumperoo and within five minutes she is out like a light. She looks so sweet, but so uncomfortable!

We got together today with Addy's birth family to celebrate her birthday early. We had such a good time at the football game last night and at the park today. They brought Addy a new table that she can learn to stand at to play and an adorable pair of jammies! They have little ballerinas all over them and I can't wait until it's a little colder to put them on her!









At the park Addy still wasn't big enough for the "baby" swings so she hung out on a blanket and then on the slide, merry-go-round and teeter totter. She did not care for the slide or the teeter totter but did enjoy the merry-go-round. She also enjoyed it when she got to throw leaves, they were pretty fun. The boys had a lot of fun running around and the weather was gorgeous! I am ready for more fall-like temperatures but you couldn't beat today!

Marshfield Blue Jays vs. Buffalo Bison

Tonight we went out to eat at Pizza Hut and then off to the football game. We won 21-6 so it was a great game. Jarika and her fellow squad members held a Junior Cheer Camp this week and the little girls got to perform before the game, it was so cute! I did get video of Jarika's dance but I haven't gotten it on the computer yet but I will. So here are some pics of our evening, enjoy!

I'm sure you spotted our little buddy with DS in this pic. I have known L since she was a tiny baby, she is amazing. She loved being Jarika's buddy again this year. She is a hoot! I love this kid!

Day 9 of 31/Grandparents Night

Tonight was Grandparents Night/Open House at both of the boys' schools. My mom came to tour their schools with them and headed to the Book Fair. She enjoyed reading about what the boys are doing in school. Cooper had an "About Me" poster up above his locker. Last year he had a similar type of assignment and he had left Addy out of his family. He said at that time, being Mr. Asperger's Syndrome and full of specifics said "Mom, Addy isn't officially adopted yet so she's not my sister yet." Okay, knowing that Cooper goes by the book I let it go even though we explained that she IS his sister, just because it hasn't been declared in court yet it didn't matter. He seemed to accept that. Well once again this year's "About Me" poster says this "People in MY Family" Me, Mom, Dad, Jarika, Avery. Hmm, should I be concerned? He said he just forgot about Addy. Cooper has never really been that into Addy but he does know that she exists! He does tell her "Hi" and waves to her some. He doesn't play with her but that's his personality I think, I don't think it has anything to do with Addy herself. I hope not anyway!
In Avery's class his teacher, Mrs. P asked how Mr. Ornery was. Earlier in the week he had a behavior note sent home that I had to sign. Not a huge deal and definitely not a shock to me. Avery is my most challenging child. She said that he's been playing around and not listening. Once again, not a shock but is still something that is going to be addressed AGAIN! I know that he can be an awesome kid, he loves Addy to pieces and plays with her and reads to her all of the time. He's also doing excellent with his grades. Academics are definitely not an issue, it's just his immaturity and his tendency to be pretty impulsive. Overall it was a good night, the boys each got to pick a book from the Book Fair and both started reading them as soon as we got home.
Addy stayed home with Jarika because I didn't want her with all of the crowds and Daddy was going to be home in an hour or so. Jarika was in a good mood and looked so darn cute tonight. She doesn't wear her hair up very much because she has to for cheerleading. Tonight she left it up after practice and I actually got a cute smiling picture of her. I haven't seen this beautiful smile in awhile so it was a great treat!

Tomorrow night is Junior Cheer Camp night at our football game. It's going to be packed. Jarika was in charge of making up the dance for the 3-6 graders and she's excited about the performance. I'll try to videotape it and upload to the blog. We're having company in this weekend so it may be a little crazy but I'm gonna try!

As for Miss Addy Boo, she ate really well for her speech therapist today. She's still not swallowing but it's at least getting past her lips and she is taking in some even if it's by accident.
I'm researching what I can about her constantly touching her throat. She turns 2 on the 18th and we'll be going in for her 2 year check in a couple of weeks and I'm going to ask for a Thyroid check. I don't know if it has anything to do with her touching her neck but I think it's worth checking out since thyroid problems are pretty common in people with Down syndrome.
